Houseboat rentals in Tennessee
Tennessee's flagship houseboat destination is Dale Hollow Lake, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir on the Obey River known for exceptionally clear water and a shoreline that stays largely undeveloped inside surrounding federal land. Multiple resorts along the Tennessee shore rent houseboats ranging from mid-size family boats to large group vessels. Dale Hollow is roughly a two-hour drive from Nashville, making it a natural weekend or full-week option for guests flying into Middle Tennessee. Tennessee also holds significant houseboat activity on the Tennessee River system, though those destinations are still under research for this release.
Each destination below has a verified rental relationship as of 2026-07-16. Rental availability, pricing, and marina operations still change — confirm current details with the operator.
Tennessee requires a boating safety course for operators born after January 1, 1989 on motorized vessels — confirm current requirements with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Marinas add their own on-water orientation.
Peak season is Memorial Day through Labor Day. Late spring and early fall offer cooler weather and easier availability.
